The Côte d'Or International Racecourse and Entertainment Complex Ltd (COIREC) was incorporated on 29 April 2022 as a private company to spearhead the development of a Leisure and Entertainment Complex at Côte d'Or which will also include a new racecourse of international standards.
The objective of the company is to create an innovative Leisure and Entertainment Complex which will include an international racecourse that features a full season of exceptional horse racing, anchors a contemporary real estate development and provides high end leisure and entertainment activities and other related amenities. The development will include various types of modern housing options such as villas, townhouses, apartments and green spaces.
COIREC has since June 2022 also been vested with the control and maintenance of the Champ de Mars Racecourse, situated in the City of Port Louis in Mauritius.
Development of a new racecourse, leisure and entertainment project
at CÔTE D’OR
COIREC shall develop some 175 arpents of land at Côte d’Or to cater, amongst others, for the following:
- Leisure and Entertainment Complex which will comprise of a casino, hotel, leisure parks, sports centre, amongst others;
- A modern Equestrian Park that will comprise of a racecourse of international standards and other associated facilities related to equine industry;
- A business and commercial district;
- Real estate activities including modern town houses, villas and appartments;
- Dedicated cycle track;
- Other mixed-use activities.
Investor Relations
- to act as the single interface with all investors and liaise with relevant authorities for the registration of investors;
- to provide facilitation and advisory services to businesses in Mauritius;
- to identify opportunities in new economic sectors and engage with international partners to develop strategic alliances to create the appropriate ecosystem for these sectors;
- to improve business environment and undertake such other activities as may be necessary to promote Mauritius as an attractive base for investment and as an international financial centre;
The Economic Development Board has developed the premium investor certificate to promote the emergence of pioneering industries, innovative sectors and first movers. Potential investors may avail on the following incentives under this scheme:
Incentives include:
- Rebates, exemptions and preferential rates, in relation to taxes, duties, fees, charges and levies under any enactment;
- Facilities, grants and exemptions in relation to –
- land and buildings;
- infrastructure and public facilities;
- utilities; and
- labour requirements, including foreign labour.
